Bold, dry, strong. The original. Shaken hard with ice and served in a chilled coupe.
Ingredients
— 🍸 THE BUILD
— 3 oz London dry gin
— 1 oz vodka
— 1/2 oz Lillet Blanc or Cocchi Americano
— Lemon twist
Prep
— Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
— Cut a wide lemon twist — about 1 inch wide, 3 inches long.
Method
— Combine gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc in a cocktail shaker.
— Fill with ice.
— Shake hard for 15 seconds. Bond was right — shaking bruises the gin slightly and dilutes perfectly.
— Double strain into the chilled coupe.
— Express the lemon twist over the glass — hold it skin-side down and give it a firm snap over the drink.
— Run the twist around the rim, then drop it in.
Chef's Note: Cocchi Americano gives a more bitter, old-school feel than Lillet. Both are correct — it's a matter of preference. Lillet is softer and floral; Cocchi is drier and more complex.
