Ingredients
— 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
— ½ cup olive oil
— ½ cup orange juice
— 2 tbsp ouzo or brandy
— 1 tsp baking powder
— Pinch of salt
— 1 cup honey
— ½ cup water
— 1 cup sesame seeds, toasted
— 1 tsp cinnamon
— Pinch of ground cloves
Prep
— Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
— In a separate bowl whisk together olive oil, orange juice, and ouzo.
— Pour wet into dry and mix until a soft dough forms.
— Do not overwork — mix just until combined.
— Rest 15 minutes covered.
— Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden.
— Watch carefully — they burn quickly.
— Mix with cinnamon and ground cloves.
— Preheat oven to 350°F.
Method
— Pinch off walnut-sized pieces of dough.
— Roll into ovals or small rounds.
— Place on a lined baking sheet.
— Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes.

— While pastries bake, combine honey and water in a small saucepan.
— Bring to a simmer, stir until combined.
— Keep warm.
— While pastries are still warm, dip each one briefly in warm honey syrup.
— Remove with a fork and let excess drip off.
— Immediately roll in sesame mixture.
— Place on a rack to cool.
